This Saturday, July 30th, from 10am to 7pm, will be the debut of a new cultural event in Joplin: JoMoCon. This is a convention for pop culture enthusiasts. Anime, sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming are just a few of the themes. Some people are familiar with events like “Comic-Con”, but many in the Four-State area have never experienced a convention. We aim to give them that experience at Pennington Station at 518 Virginia Ave., between 4th & 6th Street.

Attendees will enjoy gaming, insightful presentations, browsing the creations of local artists, and a Cosplay Pageant of their favorite pop culture characters. To top it all off, we are excited to be hosting special guest John Gremillion. John is a Houston, TX based voice actor whose talents can be heard in many prominent anime series, including My Hero Academia and One Piece.

Admission is $10, and children 5 and under are free. Admission may be purchased online, or in Pennington Station during the convention. We will be donating a substantial portion of admission sales to support the kids of Ozark Center’s Turn Around Ranch in Joplin. For more information, go to www.jomocon.org
