1 Million Cups Joplin, which normally meets weekly at the Advanced Training
and Technology Center, at 420 S. Grand Avenue in Joplin, is taking a road trip! For the June 8
event, attendees are heading to Carl Junction for a special

Road Trip Edition of  1 Million Cups Joplin.
The event is in partnership with the Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, and will be held
at the Carl Junction Community Center, located at 303 N. Main Street, Carl Junction. Coffee and
Connection will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by two presenters who will share about their
businesses at 9 a.m.
Both presenters operate businesses out of Carl Junction. Happy Trees Table Co. produces
heirloom quality fine furniture using locally sourced materials. Josh Howard, the company
owner, creates handmade tables, cutting boards and custom built-ins. Nomad Brew is a
mobile coffee truck that serves the community by making coffee available at area events.
Owner Mason Fox saw a need for a coffee shop in Carl Junction, but also wanted to serve
quality coffee at local events, so he used both ideas to create the coffee truck. Each
presentation will last 8 minutes and will be followed by 20 minutes of feedback and Q&A with
the audience.

Cavanaugh Studyvin, executive director of the Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to share CJ with 1 Million Cup attendees, but also have two
great Carl Junction entrepreneurs showcase their businesses.”
1 Million Cups is a free, national program designed to educate, engage, and connect
entrepreneurs. Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, the program is based on the notion that
entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee.The are over 150 chapters in cities around the nation
